Funeral services for Enid E. Barsby were held Thursday, April 5, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Manning, Iowa. Reverend Marshall Brown officiated the service with Judy Joens as vocalist and Connie Siepker as organist.

Honorary casketbearers were Lyle Arp, Bud Johnson, Eddie Fischer, George Peters, Claus Nielsen, Ron Hiatt, Linus Heithoff and Hugo Ress.

Enid, daughter of Harry C. and Elvira Jane Swearingen Hays, was born August 4, 1902 in Manning, Iowa. She was graduated from Manning High School in 1922. Following her graduation, Enid taught country school.

December 28, 1922 Enid was united in marriage with Earl Barsby. They farmed near Manning until moving to Manning in 1962. Enid was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, of the Presbyterian Church and of various church ladies organizations.

Enid had been in failing health this winter and died Tuesday, April 3, 1990 at Manning General Hospital at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 30 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; by two brothers, Earl Hays and Lyle Hays; and by three sisters, Delpha White, Mary Doolittle, and Erma Wiese.

Enid is survived by her daughter, Mary Owen, of Lebanon, Missouri; by her son, Bob Barsby and his wife, Joyce, of Manning; by five grandchildren, Lynn, Mary, Clyde, and Robert Owen, and Robert Barsby; by three great-grandchildren, Jessica Owen and Joe and Elliott Barsby; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

As a memorial to Enid, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.


Enid Barsby is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
