Eric Horky

Eric Travis Horky, 37, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 1, 2012, at his home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. John Pehrson as officiant. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Family would like to have the visitation "Eric style," so please come dressed casually. Eric was born April 28, 1974, in Sioux City, to Larry and Barbara (Vollstedt) Horky. He graduated from East High School with the Class of 1993 and attended Western Iowa Tech Community College. Through the years, Eric worked for Southern Hills Amoco, Carquest, Speedy Lube, Siouxland Dent FX, Phillips Kiln and most currently he was employed at Siouxland Concrete and part time at Covington Golf Course.

Eric touched the lives and hearts of all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding motorcycles, having cook-outs, playing darts, golfing and hunting. His family was blessed to have him as part of their lives. Eric's niece and nephews were his pride and joy.

Eric is survived by his parents, Larry and Barb of Sioux City; brother, Todd Horky and his wife, Karen and their children, Taryn and Owen of Sioux City; sister, Heidi Gengler and her husband, Ken and their son, Kaleb of Sioux City; paternal grandparents, Ted and Jeanne Hawley of Vail, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hugo and Evelyn Vollstedt; and two uncles, Dean and Roger Vollstedt, both of Manning, Iowa.
