ERNEST EHLERS
Ernest, son of Fred and Anna Wegner Ehlers, was born September 17, 1913, near Botna, Iowa. He attended the rural schools near his home.

On December 11, 1937, Ernest was united in marriage with Doris Armentrout. Two daughters, Leanne and Roselle, were born to this union. A lifelong farmer, Ernest lived and worked on the farm where he was born near Botna. He and his wife moved to Manning in the late 1970s. She died on July 28, 1985.

Ernest had been in failing health and was hospitalized for several weeks at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He died there on Saturday afternoon, September 3, 1994, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 17 days.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Emma Hagedorn, Florence Witt, and Selma Kuebler; and three brothers: Freddie, Herman, and George Ehlers.

Survivors include his children: Leanne and her husband, Galen Hartman, of Red Oak and Roselle and her husband, Jerry Davis, of American Falls, Idaho; three grandchildren: Debra Curry, Donna Mills, and Deanna Curry; seven great-grandchildren: Travis Mills, LaDawn Mills, Kyle Curry, Tyson Curry, Chad Curry, Danielle Curry, and Shannon Curry; a sister, Rose Stuhr, of Carroll; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
