Eunice Lucille Jensen

Eunice Lucille, daughter of James and Sarah Noon McMahon, was born September 19, 1899, on a farm in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended rural schools and then moved with her family to Harlan where she graduated from high school. She attended Iowa State College for 2 years after which she started teaching at Corley.

On October 25, 1925, Eunice was united in marriage with Gustoff Jensen. They made their home in Manning where they raised their 5 children. Eunice was a homemaker. In her spare time she was active in the Democratic Party and Garden Club. Later in life she enjoyed oil painting.

Eunice’s husband, Gus, died in 1975. Eunice remained in her home until January of 1991, when she became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. She died there on Friday, February 13, 1998, at the age of 98 years, 4 months, and 24 days.

Besides her husband, Gus, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jean Petersen; a son-in-law, Warren Petersen. Also preceding her in death were 6 brothers: F.J. “Bud” McMahon; John “Johnnie” McMahon; Jessie “Tag” McMahon; Walter “Abe” McMahon; Glen “Til” McMahon; and Harry “Hy” McMahon.

She is survived by her children: Kenneth Jensen and his wife, Fern, of Manning; Faye and her husband, Raymond Walder, of Ramona, CA; Allen “Buck” Jensen and his wife, Judy, of Gardner, MT; and Wayne “Butch” Jensen and his wife, Pam, of Manning; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard “Torp” McMahon, of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Dorothy McMahon, of Manilla; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
