Funeral services for Ewald Fred Grundmeier, 75, were held Saturday, January 2, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa, with the Rev. Frank Sass officiating. Interment was at Arcadia Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons, David, Joel, Bob, Stanley Grundmeier; Fred Branning Jr. and Tom Tews.

Mr. Grundmeier died at Manning General Hospital early Thursday, December 31, 1959, following a long illness.

A son of Herman and Augusta (Oberegge) Grundmeier, he was born September 15, 1884, in Washington Township. He lived all his life in the Arcadia and Manning communities. On November 22, 1905, he was married to Frieda Koepke at Arcadia, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Halbur, and moved into Arcadia, Iowa in 1941.

Mr. Grundmeier was the last of a family of 14 children. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Marcellus Grundmeier, Aspinwall, Iowa; Alvin Grundmeier, Carroll, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Hilda) Branning, Carroll, Iowa; Mrs. Alvin (Ruth) Tews, Council Bluffs, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The body was at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa, until time of rites.
