Casketbearers were Charles Grabill, Orrin Plagmann, Russell Frank, Gordell Lamp, Ernest Plagman, and Leland Kienast. Interment was held in the Manning City Cemetery, Manning. A visitation was held Wednesday, August 7, after 4:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home.

Fern, daughter of Ernest and Lizzie (Meyers) Frank, was born November 9, 1914, near Irwin, in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended country schools near her home and graduated from Manning High School in 1932. After graduation she remained at home where she took care of her mother.

On January 12, 1941, Fern was united in marriage with Wilbur Anthony at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. After her marriage, she was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church on April 17, 1941. Following her husband's basic training in the United States Army, she joined him on the East Coast where they lived for several months. After his honorable discharge they returned to the Anthony family farm near Manning where they lived and worked until their retirement in 1967. At that time, they moved into Manning. Fern was a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed her family during the many years her health permitted. She and Wilbur found much pleasure in their many travels together. Fern was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Dorcas Society, Happy Hour Club, and American Legion Auxiliary.

After Wilbur's death on January 25, 1984, Fern remained in their home until 1990, when she was diagnosed with cancer and spent many weeks in various health care facilities. In 1991, she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home where she died on Monday, August 5, 1996, at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 26 days.

Besides her husband and parents, Fern was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters: three in infancy, Herman, Otto and Carl Frank, Mamie Plagmann, and Emma Plagmann.

Fern is survived by a daughter, Colene, and her husband, Gene Lohrmann; two grandchildren: Andrea Otto and Kyle Lohrmann; a great-grandson, Colton Otto, all of Manning; a sister-in-law, Norma Lamaack, of Manning; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
