Florence Ewoldt

Funeral services for Florence Ewoldt were held Monday, October 26, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla, Iowa. Pastor Glenn Wiechmann officiated the 10:30 a.m. service with Marlene Jahn as vocalist and Bonnie Lorenzen, organist. Interment was in Hayes Township Cemetery located near Westside, Iowa, with Ray Ehlers, Eddie Meiners, Roger Georgius, Dan Muhlbauer, Ken Ahrenholtz, and Robert Georgius serving as casketbearers.

Florence, daughter of Edward and Paulina (Lamp) Georgius, was born January 14, 1904, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended the rural schools near her home.

On January 19, 1927, Florence was united in marriage with Hugo Ewoldt. Two sons, Stanley and Donald, were born to this union. Florence and Hugo farmed for 47 years in the Manning area, 42 of which were on the same farm. In 1979 they retired and moved to Manilla. Hugo died on July 22, 1990. Florence continued to make her home in Manilla for a short time, moving to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in May of 1991. She died there on Thursday evening, October 22, 1992, at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 8 days.

Besides her husband, Florence was preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Roy Georgius; and by a brother in infancy.

Survivors include two sons: Stanley, of Manning and Donald and his wife, Verna, of Manilla; three granddaughters: Kathleen and her husband, Bruce Carl; Annette and her husband, Robert Wells; and LuAnn Ewoldt; two grandsons: Thomas Ewoldt and his wife, Traci, and Lynn Ewoldt; a great-grandson, Keith Carl; many other relatives and friends.

Florence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla.
