Florence Augusta Grimm, 86, died Saturday, February 6, 1999, at Manning Plaza Nursing Home in Manning.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning with Father James McAlpin as celebrant.

Lector and Eucharistic Minister will be Ray Thielen. Mass servers will be Michelle Ramsey and Robyn Ramsey. Gift bearers will be Carol Blanchard, Cathy Blanchard and Gay Lynn Wiskus.

Casket bearers will be Dan Lohmeier, Jerry Lohmeier, Ed Stangl, Bill Stangl, Jim Stangl and Bob Stangl.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m.; Tuesday, February 9, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born January 22, 1913, at Petersburg, Nebraska, she was a daughter of Fred and Minnie (Willenborg) Stangl. She attended school in Petersburg until age 13 when she moved with her family to a farm near Manning. She then attended school in Templeton for two years and graduated from Gray High School. She worked at various places in Carroll, Manning and Westside.

She married Melvin Grimm on June 7, 1941, and they lived in Manning. She worked at Priebe's Hatchery, Carpenter Lampshade Factory and Art Rix's Drug Store Coffee Shop.

She enjoyed handiwork, cooking and baking.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 55 years. After her husband's death on March 25, 1969, she continued to live in their home until the fall of 1981 when she moved to the Elm Crest Apartments.

Mrs. Grimm is survived by her daughter, Donna Grimm, of Omaha, Nebraska; a granddaughter, Shea Grimm-Jones, and her husband, Walt Jones, of Seattle, Washington; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aggie Lohmeier of Omaha, Nebraska, and Sister Mary Hilary Stangl of Farmington Hills, Michigan; two brothers, Fred Stangl and his wife, Arlene, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Leonard Stangl of Omaha, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, August Stangl; and two sisters, Leona and Rita Stangl.

Florence Augusta, daughter of Fred and Minnie Willenborg Stangl, was born January 22, 1913, at Petersburg, Nebraska. She attended school in Petersburg until the age of 13 when she moved with her family to a farm near Manning, Iowa. She then went to school in Templeton for two years and then graduated from Gray High School. She worked at various places in Carroll, Manning, and Westside.

On June 7, 1941, Florence was united in marriage with Melvin Grimm. One daughter Donna was born to this union. They lived in Manning. Florence worked at Priebe's Hatchery, Carpenter Lampshade Factory, and for Art Rix in the Drug Store Coffee Shop. She enjoyed handiwork, cooking, and baking.

Florence was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning all her life. She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 55 years.

After the death of her husband on March 25, 1969, Florence continued to live in their home until the fall of 1981 when she moved to the Elm Crest Apartments. When her health began to fail in the summer of 1998, she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She died there on Saturday, February 6, 1999, at the age of 86 years and 15 days.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother August Stangl and two sisters Leona Stangl and Rita Stangl.

Florence is survived by her daughter Donna Grimm of Omaha, Nebraska; one granddaughter Shea Grimm-Jones and her husband Walt Jones of Seattle, Washington; three great-grandchildren: China, Israel, and Max Jones of Seattle, Washington; two sisters Aggie Lohmeier of Omaha, Nebraska, and Sister Mary Hiliary Stangl of Farmington Hills, Michigan; two brothers Fred Stangl and his wife Arlene of Wichita Falls, Tennessee, and Leonard Stangl of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
