Flossie Burley
March 17, 1887
Manning Monitor

After suffering the most intense agony, Flossie, the little girl of Mr. F.P. Burley, died on Tuesday. Mention was made in last week's MONITOR of the accidental burning of the child, but we did not realize that the case was so bad. Though only seven years old the little ones showed great fortitude during her sufferings. She had her play things put on the bed by her side, and said that when she died she wanted them put in a certain place. The funeral services were held on Wednesday at the home of the father and were conducted by the Rev. O.H. Truman. Mr. Burley has the sympathy of all our citizens in his affliction.

Note Manning Cemetery tombstone records: Flossie J. Burley died March 15 1887, 8 years and 8 months; daughter of F.P. and L.H. Burley.
