Francis Edward, son of William and Beulah (Pointer) Bosche, was born June 14, 1913, near Irwin, Iowa. He started his schooling in Iowa and at the age of seven years, moved with his family to Minnesota where he completed his education and started working. The family moved back to a farm south of Kirkman when he was 19 years old. He continued to live and work with his family, both in Kirkman and Hancock.

On September 30, 1940, Francis was united in marriage with Selma Meislahn. Three children were born to this union. They farmed near Avoca and Hancock for a period during the early years of their marriage. They eventually moved to Manning where he worked for the city, Ocoma Foods in Carroll, Vilas Foods in Storm Lake and Plastico Ltd. After his retirement, he and Selma continued to live in Manning. Francis enjoyed fishing, watching Lawrence Welk on TV, going to church or watching church programs on television, and going out to coffee with his family.

Following the death of his wife in 1996, Francis continued to live in their home until May of 2002 when, due to failing health, he became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. He died there on Sunday, August 18, 2002, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 4 days.

Preceding him in death are his wife, parents, brother Marion Bosche, and brother-in-law Ralph Green.

Francis is survived by his three children: Leona and husband Larry Hansen of Manning; Betty Clipperton of Manning and Raymond Bosche of Carroll; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister Fern Green of Panama City, FL; other relatives and friends.
