FRANK EICKMAN

The Rite of Christian Burial for Frank Eickman was held Friday, February 1, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Manning, Iowa. Reverend Father Ralph Reinhart was the celebrant with Myra Leitner as lector, Aricie Catalani and Julie Johnson as gift bearers. Music was provided by the Sacred Heart Choir. Interment was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning with Lynn Eickman, Richard Eickman, Glen Eickman, Jeff Grimm, Randy Eickman, and Gary Martins as casketbearers. A prayer service followed by a rosary was held Thursday, January 31, 1991, at 7:30 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Frank, son of Bernard and Susanna (Perrott) Eickman, was born January 10, 1899, at Salem, South Dakota. After the death of his father when Frank was one year old, and his mother a year later, he was taken in and raised by his aunt, Mrs. Anna Riesberg of near Templeton, Iowa. He attended country schools near his home and after finishing his schooling he worked on the Riesberg farm. February 17, 1925, at Roselle, Iowa, Frank was united in marriage with Anna Bellinghausen. They farmed in the Templeton area for 44 years. After their retirement in 1969 they moved to Manning where they were members of Sacred Heart Parish. During his retirement years he was able to pursue his avid love of reading.

June 20, 1989, Anna died. Frank continued to live in their home even though his health began to fail the past couple of years. He died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 29, 1991, at Manning General Hospital, Manning, Iowa, at the age of 92 years, and 19 days.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Floyd; by a grandson, Bill Eickman; and by two brothers, Henry and Laurence.

Survivors include his children: Maurice and his wife, Dorothy, of Templeton; Muriel Grimm, of Missouri Valley; Jane and her husband, Michael Catalani, of San Antonio, Texas; and Myra and her husband, Jim Leitner, of Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Marita and her husband, Bernard Meiners, of Dedham; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian and her husband, Les Junhke, of Vista, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
