Frank, son of Paul and Catherine Hacker Kasparbauer, was born April 30, 1911, near Dedham, Carroll County, Iowa. He attended country schools near his home. After completing his schooling, Frank started farming by breaking sod with a 16-inch walking plow.

On November 25, 1935, Frank was united in marriage with Helen Katherine Steffes at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. Eight children were born to this union. They started farming south of Templeton. In 1973 they moved to the Guth Farm west of Aspinwall and eleven years later moved to the Wanninger Farm located just to the south of them. They had many happy years living in that area.

They retired in 1990 but continued to live on the farm.

Frank was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manilla, Holy Name Society, and, since 1929, a member of Knights of Columbus in Templeton. While living near Templeton he served on the draft board. Frank was an Eden Township Trustee for 18 years. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed gardening of all kinds, fishing, playing cards, working with stained glass, going to the coffee shop, and raising his pet buffalo.

Frank had been in failing health for several months and died at his home on Saturday, July 1, 2000, at the age of 89 years, 2 months, and 1 day.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson Tim Wilkins; great-grandson Joshua Kasperbauer; and two sisters Loretta Venteicher and Hilda Vogl.

Frank is survived by his wife Helen Kasparbauer of Manning; eight children: Sister Jean Kasparbauer of Bloomington, MN; Janice and her husband Harold Wilkins of Norwalk, IA; Norbert Kasperbauer and his wife Mary Ann of Denison; Frances Norton of Kansas City, MO; Lois Schechinger of La Palma, CA; Rita and her husband Marvin Knapton of Wall Lake, IA; Leo Kasparbauer and his wife Joleen of Carroll; Dennis Kasparbauer and his wife Karen of Manning; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; sister Catherine Irlbeck of Dedham, IA; brother Paul Kasparbauer of Templeton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
