Last Rites For Mrs. Henry Hormann, 85
The community was saddened Tuesday morning when the sudden death of Mrs. Henry Hermann became known. She was apparently in good health until the last day of her life when she became somewhat indisposed towards evening, but at bed-time she told her loved ones that she felt better. They all retired but the next morning the good old mother had passed away to the great beyond, quietly and with no pain. It was a sad surprise to the family and her friends.

Frauke Hoffmann, daughter of John and Franke Hoffmann, was born at Ellsldorf, Holstein, Germany, on April 4th, 1855, and passed away at Manning, in the home of her son, William Hormann, with whom she had been making her home for a few months, due to her need for aid on account of her age. She attained the ripe old age of 85 years and 10 months.

Mrs. Hormann was a girl of 11 years when she came to America. Her early home was at Davenport, Iowa. She was married to Henry Hormann in 1878 and he passed away December 26, 1919.

Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hormann: Emma, who died in infancy, and William who survives his mother. Mrs. Hormann's three brothers were John, Henry and Carsten Hoffmann. Her two sisters were Margaret, (Mrs. Henry Sievers) and Wiebke (Mrs. Chris Grube). They all preceded her in death, leaving her the sole survivor of the family.

In addition to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hormann, her son and daughter-in-law, she is survived by four granddaughters and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 6th at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Ohde Funeral Home, the Rev. Alexander Wimberly officiating. Interment was made at the Manning cemetery. As pallbearers acted Dr. J.J. Sinn, Herman Vogt, Gustav Schroeder, Julius Wehrmann, Rudolph H. Kuhl and Orlo V. Schelldorf.

Mrs. Hormann was baptized into the Lutheran faith in Germany.
