Funeral For Fred Boyens Monday
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, for
Fred A. Boyens, 82, in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Ronald E. Meyer, officiating.
Richard Joens, soloist was accompanied by Mrs. Charles Manford at the organ. The Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were nephews, Wayne Ranniger, Elmer Thomsen, Jack Lorenzen, Roy Soll, Dewey Wiese, and Amos Wiese.
Burial was made in the Nishnabotna Cemetery.
Frederick Andrew, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Rohr) Boyens, was born July 10, 1886, at Manning. When a small boy, he moved with his family to Aspinwall where he attended schools.
He was united in marriage with Johannah Lorenzen, January 31, 1912, at Manilla. Five children were born to this union. The family lived at Manilla for a short time, then farmed near Aspinwall, and in 1912 moved to North Dakota.
After two years they returned to Irwin and Manilla communities. They moved to Denison in 1942, and retired to Manilla in 1957.
Mr. Boyens had been in failing health for five weeks, when he entered the Memorial Hospital in Denison where he died early Friday morning July 4, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 24 days.
He was preceded in death by one son, Alvin, at the age of three years, his parents, and two brothers, Harry and Charles.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Delpha (Mrs. Clyde Olson), Lester Boyens, and Gladys Boyens at home, all of Manilla; and LaVerne Boyens of Kiron, also six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and the following sisters: Mrs. Katherine Farley, Perry; Dora (Mrs. William Soll), Aspinwall; Mrs. Margaret Schroeder of Manning; Emma (Mrs. Henry Wiese), Audubon; Elsie (Mrs. Louie Wiese), Manilla; Elisabeth (Mrs. Louie Dammann), of Manning; and a brother Andrew of Maquoketa.
