Fred David

Funeral services for Fred David were held at the Manning Lutheran Church November 21, 1947, with the Rev. J.M. Ansorge officiating. Burial was in the Manning cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul, Emil, Alfred and Clarence David and Arthur and Edward Ahrendsen.

Mr. David, a son of John and Wilhelmina David, was born December 2, 1867, at Strussion, Germany. He came to the United States in 1890, coming directly to Iowa and settling in Audubon County where he farmed for 28 years, after which he retired and moved to Gray, Iowa.

In 1896 he was married to Margaretha Christine Ahrendsen in Shelby County.

Preceding him in death were his wife, a daughter Hertha, and two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Borkowski and Mrs. Albertina Frentz. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Polzin, of Manning; Mrs. Louise Rudnick, Gray; also two brothers, Albert David, Manning; Carl David, Watertown, S.D., and a sister Mrs. August Elfring, Watertown, S.D., as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. David passed away at the Manning hospital of a heart condition after being in the hospital for a few days, part of the time at his home in Gray before being brought to the hospital.


Fred David is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
