Former resident laid to rest here Tuesday, November 25, 1958

Funeral services for Fred Kortum, 78, were held at the Manning Cemetery November 25 with the Rev Lester L. Moore of the Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers were Pete Kuhl, Herman Dammann, Grover Steen, Earl Barsby, Raymond Dammann and Emil Kuhl.

Born in Germany August 27, 1880, he came to this country with his parents May 9, 1881. On December 18, 1901, he was married to Miss Dora Korchoff and they made their home in Manning until 35 years ago when they moved to Michigan.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mary Stern of Providence, Rhode Island; Mrs. Roy (Margaret) Gibbert of St Paul, Minnesota; one son, Fred in California; four granddaughters, one great-grandson; four sisters, Mrs. Meta Shafenburg, Mrs. Emma Winters, Mrs. Rosa Dammann and Mrs. Marie Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, --- missing information
