Funeral services for Freddie Ehlers, 63, of Manning were held on Wednesday, September 24, 1975, at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Manning. Rev. Joel Wright officiated with burial in the Manning cemetery.

Freddie Ehlers, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ehlers, was born on December 19, 1911, near Botna. As a boy he attended rural schools near his home. Freddie was united in marriage to Hazel Lage on January 23, 1940. They farmed near Botna and Manning and have made their home on a farm eight miles northwest of Manning since 1950. He served as director of his school district for several terms, was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Manning and has served as trustee of the church for two terms. He died suddenly at home on Sunday evening September 21, 1975, at the age of 63.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Herman.

Survivors include his wife Hazel, two sons Dale Ehlers of Irwin and Rod Ehlers of Westside, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Hagedorn, Manning, Mrs. Florence Witt, Carroll, Mrs. Rose Stuhr, Carroll and Mrs. Roland (Selma) Kuebler, St. Petersburg, Florida, and one brother, Ernest Ehlers of Botna.
