FRENZ LOHRMANN

Frenz, son of Fred and Clara (Joachimsen) Lohrmann, was born December 18, 1913, in Crawford County, Iowa. He attended rural schools near his home. On September 29, 1936, he was united in marriage with Erma Segebart at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Manning. They moved to Okoboji and worked for the Okoboji Dairy for two years before moving back to the Manning and Westside area. He worked at various jobs before moving to the home farm, eight miles northwest of Manning, in 1943. They farmed until 1971, when they moved into Manning. He then worked at the Aspinwall Coop and various janitorial jobs in Manning. Frenz was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He thoroughly enjoyed his family; woodworking and fishing were his favorite pastimes.

In September 1995, Frenz's health began to fail and he was diagnosed with cancer. He died at home in Manning on Friday, May 24, 1996, at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 6 days.

Frenz was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judy Diane Lohrmann; a grandson, Jeffery Lohrmann; and a sister, Ada Frahm.

Frenz is survived by his wife, Erma Lohrmann; four sons: Larry Lohrmann and his special friend, Connie Herbst, of Denison; Gene Lohrmann and his wife, Colene, of Manning; Curt Lohrmann and his wife, Judy, of Carroll; and Rick Lohrmann and his wife, Georgia, of Manning; two daughters: Kerry Sturm and her fiancee, Kevin Hollander, of Phoenix, Arizona; and Brenda and her husband, Dallas Warnke, of Scranton; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elva Massman, of Denison; Lora Sander, of Eureka, California; and Arla Dammann, of Manning; sisters-in-law: Alice Schoenjahn, of Carroll; Viola (Mrs. George) Segebart, of Denison; Viola (Mrs. Earl) Segebart, of Denison; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services for Frenz Paul Lohrmann were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 28,1996, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert served as officiant, and interment was made at the Manning City Cemetery. Music was provided by congregational singing on "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Just As I Am, Without One Plea," and by Joann Karsten and Georgia Lohrmann on "Amazing Grace." Fern Jensen was the organist for the service. Casketbearers were Troy Lohrmann, Kyle Lohrmann, Chad Lohrmann, Doug Lohrmann, Jason Lohrmann, Justin Sturm, and Chris Sturm. Serving as honorary casketbearers were Erica Lohrmann, Andrea Otto, Trevor Warnke, Traci Warnke, Trena Warnke, and Travis Warnke. Arrangements were made by the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
