Gage Nathaniel, son of George and Rochelle (Lahr) King, was born July 3, 1998, in Manning, Carroll County, Iowa. He lived in Manilla with his family and in 2002 moved to Manning.

Gage enjoyed attending pre-school in Manning and had just started his kindergarten year with Mrs. Linde's class. During school, Gage liked to go down the slide, listen to stories, play with blocks, play on the rainbow bars, watch movies when it was hot, play the shoe match game, string beads, be silly with his friends, color at free choice, play outside at recess, play Ants In Your Pants, look for caterpillars, play on the double bubble bars, slide down the pole at recess, pretend that he was swimming, knock down towers in blocks, have people help him tie his shoes and play Who's Shoe Does Gage Have?
His favorite story was The Five Little Monkeys.

Gage made friends easily, had a wonderful sense of humor and was considered an asset to the classroom.

While at home, Gage enjoyed Bob The Builder, playing outside, riding his bike and everybody else's, watching Fear Factor and pestering his sisters. Even though he was known to be ornery from time to time, Gage had an infectious smile and a sweet, charming and loving way about him.

On Tuesday, September 2, 2003, Gage died following a bicycle accident near his home in Manning, Iowa. He was 5 years, 1 month and 30 days of age.

Besides all of his great-grandparents, Gage was preceded in death by a great-uncle Jerry Lahr.

Gage is survived by his parents George and Rochelle King of Manning; three sisters: Samantha, Star, and Gracie, all of Manning; grandparents: Diane Lahr of Manilla, Terry and Shirley King of Lake City and Rick Steinhoff of Manilla; two uncles Jason King and wife Dixie and Kelly King and wife Melanie, all of Manning; cousins: Joshua, Jonathan, Micah, Bishop, Brandon and Brittany King; other relatives and friends.
