He enlisted in the Air Force March 20, 1953, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1973. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a Reconnaissance Pilot. Among others, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and two Oak Leaf Clusters.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 17, at the South Lawn Mortuary in Tucson with the Rev. Phillip Kelly of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Mark, Brian, and Kevin Ehrichs, and Barry, Doug, and Dave Kusel. Interment was in the veteran section of South Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Ehrichs is survived by his wife, Patricia; three sons, Mark, Brian, and Kevin; granddaughter Teri Jean Ehrichs, all of Tucson; his mother Clara Ehrichs of Manning, Iowa; one brother Glenn of Corvallis, Oregon; and two sisters: Dorothy Kusel of Manning, and Mrs. Walter (Shirley Ann) Schramm of Denison, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louie Ehrichs, and a sister, Marjorie Ehrichs.
