GEORGE BRUHN

George John Bruhn, 53, of Irwin died unexpectedly Thursday morning, November 2, 1978, at his home.
Services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Irwin with Rev. Emil Martinson officiating. Burial was in Oak" Hill Cemetery at Irwin.
Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bruhn, the son of William and Wilhelmina (Hansen) Bruhn, was born March 10, 1925 in Audubon County. He attended rural school.
His marriage to Arlene Asmus took place in 1949. The couple farmed in Audubon County and Mr. Bruhn operated a trucking business for many years. His wife died in 1957.

Mr. Bruhn married Mary Fredericks Bohlmann July 30, 1960. The couple continued to live in Audubon County until moving to Irwin three years ago. Mr. Bruhn retired from the trucking business in August, 1978 following a heart attack.

Mr. Bruhn was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church where he served on the Church council. He was a member of the Irwin City Council and of the Irwin Fire Department. He also had served as a hail adjuster for the Farmers Mutual Insurance Co.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; four sons, Willis of Audubon, Orrin of Irwin, Edward of Seattle and Russel of Audubon; one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Susan) Lapham of Sulpher, Louisiana; two step-daughters, Mrs. John (JoAnn) Villegas of Irwin and Mrs. Tom (Kathy) Larsen of Wiota; four step-sons, David Bohlmann of Gray, Larry Bohlmann of Tucson, Arizona, Gerald Bohlmann of Dallas, Texas, and Rickie Bohlmann of San Diego, California; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Bruhn of Manning; two brothers, Herbert and William Bruhn of Manning; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Stillman of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Edna Nissen of Manning and Mrs. Louise Philpot of Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and his father.
