Services Held Sunday

Sudden Death on January 19th, 1927 Came as a Great Shock To The Entire Community.

George Friederick Dau was born January 28, 1880, an a farm near West Side and died at his home one and one-half miles south of Manning, January 19, 1927, at the age of 46 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Mr. Dau, as a child, came to Manning with his parents, Friederick and. Louise Dau, in 1882. He was married here to Miss Minnie Kempf, December 14, 1904. To this union three sons were born.

Mr. Dau was an enterprising citizen and business man of Manning for 18 years. Five years ago he suffered a. severe attack of Flu which seriously affected his heart, causing him very poor health and much suffering ever since.
His death, though somewhat anticipated, was very sudden.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Everett, Miles and Howard; and three sisters, Mrs. G. P. Schelldorf and Miss Anna Dau of Manning and Miss Amanda Dau of Omaha.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, A. L. Howland of Omaha, officiating.
Interment was made in the Manning cemetery.

Mr. Dau was well known and respected in this community where he had lived practically all his life. As a boy and man he was always very industrious and enterprising. He began his business career as clerk for E. C. Perry, now deceased, one of our pioneer merchants, and was in his employ about two years. Having a natural inclination and adaptability for handling horses, he soon engaged in the livery business, which he followed for 15 or 16 years. The encroachment of automobiles caused him to discontinue this business 7 years ago and for two years before moving on the farm he conducted a meat market where Mr. Lake's store is now located.

His contribution to the up-building of our little city is the brick block at the south end of Main street, on the west side between fifth and sixth streets.

Mr. Dau lived the part of a good citizen and the sympathy of the community that was his during his long siege of ill health is now extended to his bereaved family.
