Last Rites Held For George Holdsworth

Funeral services for George Henry Holdsworth, born January 1, 1864, in Preemption, Illinois, well-known farmer and cattle breeder, were held at the family home near Manilla, Saturday at 2 p.m. Mr. Holdsworth passed away the Wednesday before on December 3, 1941.

He is survived by his widow, the former Augusta Bruggeman; children George, Manilla; Ed, Tenant; John, Manilla; Alex at home, and Mrs. P. Boyce (Mathilda) of California, also nine grandchildren. He was born January 1, 1863, in Preemption, Illinois, and had lived in the Manilla vicinity for the past 59 years. He was an uncle of Mrs. Harry Porter, Losina, Eva, Ed, and Lawrence Armstrong, Jean and Harry Carsten and Mrs. Emil Dethlefs of Manning.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Acting as pall-bearers were Harry Hinz, John Vennink, Albert Puck, Ralph Justice Emil Stegemann and Ross Penniston.

Services were in charge of Rev. Timmer, pastor of the Manilla Presbyterian Church.


George Holdsworth is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
