This union was blessed with twelve children of which four boys and one girl preceded the father in death.

In 1874 he moved with his family to Greene County, where they remained for three years and from there they came to Carroll County, moving on a farm between Manning and Templeton, where they lived until 1912, when they retired from active farm life and came to Manning.

The deceased was one of the most highly respected pioneer citizens of this community, a noble citizen and a kind husband and father. In 1923, he enjoyed the day of his golden wedding anniversary surrounded by his splendid and happy children, which was the day of a family reunion and happiness for the aged parents.
