Westside

Funeral services for George Julius Kock, 86, of Westside were held at 10:30 a.m. August 3 at the United Church South Westside, with the Rev. Lyle Greiner officiating.
Edna Rohwer was organist; Mrs. Halver Martens and Mrs. Kent Lanning sang "Ivory Palaces" and How Great Thou Art.

Pallbearers were Allan Kock, Rick Kock, Dale Pfannkuch, Norman Schulter, Russell Wiese and Fred Wutzke.
Burial was in the Westside Cemetery, under direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison.

Mr. Kock died at the Plaza Nursing Home in Manning August 1, 1976.

A son of John and Mary Witt Kock, he was born August 28, 1889, at Clara City, Minnesota. At the age of four years he moved with his parents to a farm near Arcadia and later to a farm near Westside. He attended rural schools. On February 10, 1915, he married Mary Dettbarn of Westside at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church parsonage near Breda. They made their home on a farm near Westside.

In 1943 Mr. and Mrs. Kock retired to Westside and she died May 22, 1972. Mr. Kock continued to live here until his health failed and he then lived with his daughter, Mrs. Marvin Dreessen at Wall Lake for several months before entering the nursing home.

Surviving are a son, Raymond of Breda; three daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Viola) Pfannkuch of Manning, Mrs. Dreessen (Leona) of Wall Lake and Mrs. Kenneth (Edna) Wiese of Story City; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, William of Westside, John of Denison and Rudolph of Lorhville; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Leeds of Denison and Mrs. Leslie (Caroline) Jensen of Westside.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, a great-grandson and a brother, Henry Kock.
