The following poetry was written by friends:
Dearest parents, I have left you.
And my loss you will sorely feel!
It is God that has bereft you;
He will all our sorrow heal.
Farewell, dearest parents,
For I must be gone.
The angels are waiting
For Georgie to come home.
George's gone! our darling boy is gone
Triumphant, to his home above;
The prison walls are broken down;
The angels speed his swift remove,
And, shouting, on their wings he flies,
And gains his rest in Paradise.
O, may we all, like him, arise,
And keep the faith, and win the prizes
Father, prepare, and then receive
Our hallowed spirits to the skies,
To chant, with our dear boy above,
Thy glorious, everlasting love.
