GERALD HENRY KASPERBAUER, COL, USAF (Ret.) age 69 of Gainesville, Virginia died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.
He was born April 9, 1940, in Manning, Iowa, son of the late
John and Clara Kasperbauer. He received a master's degree in personnel management from what is now Webster
University near St. Louis.
Mr. Kasperbauer was a member of Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, Gainesville, and a U.S. Air Force veteran having retired with
over 20 years of dedicated service to his country.
His military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, two Air Medals and the Air Force Commendation Medal. After retiring from active duty, he was a mattress and cabinet salesman for Washington area companies.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, the former Norma L. Garcia-Fonseca, of Gainesville; two children from his first marriage, Charles Nugent of Stafford and Kelly Kasperbauer of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four step-children, Nancy E. Christensen of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Evelyn F. Morris of Grayslake, IIIinois, Dennis R. Cox of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Venice F. Cox of Manassas, Virginia; three sisters: Marian Fitzsimmons of Vail, Patty Sheets of Iowa City, and Linda Johnson of Forest City; five brothers: Mike of Lexington, Kentucky, Larry of Agona, Guam, Jim of Memphis, Tennessee, Patrick of Council Bluffs, and Lonnie of Des Moines; 10 step-grandchildren, Christie Dixon, Aaron Medvick, Taylor Christensen, Kristin Morris, Sean Morris, Dain Cox, Lindsey Cox, Dennis Cox, Drew Cox and Torrie Cox; and two step-great-grandchildren, Grant Dixon and Ethan Dixon.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 &
7:00-9:00 P.M. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street,
Manassas where a rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Sunday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8213 Linton
Hall Road, Gainesville, Virginia.
Interment at Arlington
National Cemetery with full military honors at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 3,
2010 with a reception immediately following at Fort Myer Officers Club.
