In Memory Of MRS. J. M. ANSORGE
Born
September 14, 1885 Lacona, IowaMRS. J. M. ANSORGE
In 1906 her father accepted a call to First Lutheran church at Wiota, where she was united in holy matrimony to Pastor John M. Ansorge of Manning on June 26, 1907, becoming the dedicated mother to four sons and one daughter.
She was blessed with many gifts and talents which she devoted to the service of her Savior, both as a church member and a pastor's wife. She devoted much time to young people's work, as well as frequently being president of the Ladies' aid and Dorcas society, and president of the Carroll circuit Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
Her way with children found expression in some 40 years teaching the beginner's class in Sunday: school and also in vacation Bible school. Her musical gifts were devoted to her work as church organist for almost 40 years and as director of the choir. This work she carried on up until the Sunday before she was stricken.
At the time Pastor Ansorge observed his golden anniversary in the ministry here, he said, "Next to God it was she who was most responsible for the success of those 50 years."
In failing health for the past five years, she suffered a brain hemorrhage October 26. Members of the congregation or her family kept constant watch at her bedside. Her prayer that she might one-day fall asleep in her Lord was literally answered when without regaining consciousness she passed away at four o'clock Friday morning at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 28 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband; four children, Karl of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, Max of Spirit Lake, Luella of Omaha, Nebraska, Edwin James of Des Moines, eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Minna Oldham of Melcher, and Mrs. Hulda Sandhorst of Atlantic, and other relatives. One son, Arthur, and four brothers preceded her in death.
