Gottlieb Grau
Born July 28, 1833 Died June 19, 1904

Almost within sight of the 71st milestone which marked the passing of a life of love and quietude, Gottlieb Grau, one of our most honored and respected citizens received the final summons Sunday afternoon.

He had been in poor health since the first of March, but previous to that time had been a healthy, strong man, and much hopes were had for his recovery.

He was born in Bramstedt, Holstein, Germany, July 28, 1833. In 1854, he married at Bramstedt to Christine Bielefeldt, and they came to America May 23, 1872, and have resided since that time at Wheatland, Iowa, and close vicinity.
He is survived by a sorrowing widow and six children, namely; Mrs. C. Lahann, Arcadia, Iowa; Mrs. H. Ehlers, of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. F. Lahann, of Wheatland; Mrs. Peter J. Martens, of Westside, Iowa; Mrs. H.J. Lahann, of Portland, Oregon; and Henry Grau, of Manning, Iowa. He is also survived by a twin brother, Detlef Grau, of Manning, Ia. All were here to the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Ehlers.

On February 26th, he celebrated his golden wedding, all of the children except one being present.
He lived an honest and honorable life and his death is a great loss to his family and many friends.
The funeral took place at the house Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Link officiating. Burial took place in Pine Hill Cemetery (Low German Cemetery), Wheatland, Iowa.
