Manning Monitor

DIED: At her home at Council Bluffs on last Friday evening, Mrs. J.S. Ferguson, who was only sick a few hours. It is supposed apoplexy was the immediate cause of her death. Mr. and Mrs. John Ferguson were among the pioneers of Manning and are well-known in this community, having lived here from 1881 until 1890 when they moved to Council Bluffs. As Mr. Ferguson has been a contractor for many years he thought he might do better in a larger town, hence moved to that place where they have since resided. Hanna M. (Miller) Ferguson, was born in Ohio fifty-nine years ago the day she died. She was married to John Ferguson May 4, 1865, in Marshall County, Iowa; moved to Crawford County in 1876 and in 1881 to Manning. Mrs. Ferguson was a good kind wife and a loving mother and was a devout Christian for many years prior to her death. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held from the Christian church at Council Bluffs on Tuesday at 2 o'clock P.M., after which the remains were interred in the Council Bluffs Cemetery. The Monitor in connection with their many friends extend sympathy to the bereaved family in their sad affliction.
