HENRY GOETTSCH CALLED
August 13, 1914

Last Monday forenoon Hans Henry Goettsch came down town as usual, and felt no better or worse than he had for some time, although he was a sufferer of heart trouble and rheumatism. From these ailments he had suffered the past year.

While in the garage of his son, Herman, he was taken suddenly and violently ill and passed away before medical service could be attained, due to heart failure.

The deceased was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, November 16th, 1846, and died at Manning, Iowa, Monday, August 10, 1914, aged 68 years, 3 months, and 7 days. In November 1866, he was united in, marriage to Miss Margurette Lage. In 1889 they moved to Manning, where they have lived the past twenty-five years. To this union eleven children were born, six having preceded him to the great beyond. His sorrowing wife and five children survive. The sons and daughters are Mrs. Helen Mohr of Manning, Iowa; Mrs. Wilhelmine Sinow, of Manning, Iowa; Ferdinand Goettsch, of Lake City; Mrs. Anne Marnette, of Coon Rapids, and Herman Conrad Goettsch of Manning. Besides these he leaves nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the German, Lutheran Church. In the absence of Rev. Johann Ansorge, Rev. Wendt, of Manilla, conducted the services. A large attendance of friends were present to pay their last sad respects to their departed neighbor and friend. The body was then taken by kind hands to the Manning Cemetery and laid at rest.

Henry Goettsch was a kind and affectionate husband and father. His friends and neighbors knew him as a quiet and hard working man who by his industry was able to gather about himself a liberal amount of this world's goods. He lived a good life and the world is better by his living in it.

The sorrowing relatives have the deep sympathy of many friends in their deep loss.
