HAROLD H. BUTHMAN
Harold, son of Henry and Gertie (Miller) Buthman, was born December 5, 1911, in Irwin, Iowa. He attended school there and was graduated with the Irwin High School Class of 1931.

During World War II Harold served with the United States Army Air Corps in Germany.
For most of his life, Harold worked for road construction companies. When he retired in 1976 he was working for Western Engineering of Harlan, Iowa.
On May 31, 1958 Harold was united in marriage with Verna (Ehrichs) Meggers. They made their home in Carroll, moving to Irwin in 1981.

Harold had been in failing health and became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home last August. He was transferred to Manning General Hospital where he died early Saturday afternoon, February 29, 1992 at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 24 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Erma James.

Survivors include his wife, Verna, of Irwin; his step-son, Steve Meggers, of Des Moines; and his aunt and uncle, Otto and Viola Buthman, of Irwin; as well as other relatives and friends.
Harold was a member of the American Legion in Irwin.
