Harvey Briggs died at his home nine miles south of Manning on Thursday, September 11, 1902. The principal cause of his death was old age. He has been ailing for some time with different complications. He was born in Albany County, New York, in July 31, 1824, and was 78 years, 1 month, and 12 days old. He was married to Sarah (Allen) in Albany County, New Yoirk, fifty-four years ago. Moved to Grundy County, Illinois, 44 years ago, living there until the year 1881 when he moved to Audubon County where he has since resided. He leaves a wife two sons and one daughter to mourn his loss,
Frances (Mrs. Sparks B.) Baker and her brother Silas R. Briggs reside in Audubon; C.O. and Byron A. Briggs in Montgomery, Illinois. Mr. Briggs was a devoted husband and a kind father and was respected by all who knew him. The funeral was held from the residence on Sunday September 14 and the remains were interred in Lincoln Township Cemetery, near Gray, Iowa, followed by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends.
