Helen Elizabeth Clark

Funeral services for Helen Elizabeth Clark will be held Thursday, December 24, 1992, at 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla, Iowa. Reverend Anita Johnson of the First Presbyterian Church in Manilla and Reverend Marshall Brown of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning will officiate the service with Barbara Agan as organist. Interment will be held in Nishnabotna Cemetery, Manilla, with Jon Duvall, Dick Clark, Joe Clark, Brad Duvall, Dan Clark, and Sean Clark as casketbearers.

Helen, daughter of David and Katie (Baker) Lichty, was born July 17, 1904, near Morrill, in Brown County, Kansas. She attended the rural schools; she furthered her education at Falls City, Nebraska and graduated from high school there. Helen then attended the Nebraska State Teacher's College in Peru. After graduation she taught English at Verdon, Nebraska for three years.

On July 1, 1928, Helen was united in marriage with Milo B. Clark at Peru, Nebraska. They moved to Iowa and farmed west of Irwin. From 1934 until 1943 they farmed north of Manilla, finally settling on a farm west of Botna. In the 1950s Helen taught school at Aspinwall. She and her husband moved to Manning in 1988.

Because of poor health Helen moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in the summer of 1992. She died there on Sunday evening, December 20, 1992, at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by two children in infancy.

Survivors include her husband, Milo, of Manning; her children: Richard Clark and his wife, Lavon, of Manilla; Lynn Clark and his wife, Laveda, of Calhoun, Louisiana; and Sue and her husband, John Duvall, of Fort Dodge; six grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; a brother, Steve Lichty and his wife, Frances, of DeWitt, Nebraska; a sister, Gladys and her husband, Lawrence Rogers, of DeWitt, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Helen was active in the Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the ladies guild and served on the church board. Memorial gifts may be made to the Presbyterian Church in Manilla or Manning.
