Helen Fischer, age 92, resident of Pierz (Minnesota) Villa, formerly of Brainerd, Minnesota, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Helen was born April 1, 1919 in Denison, Iowa to Otto and Hilda (Boger) Kahl. She married Roy J. Fischer in Denison on October 11, 1939. They lived in Manning, Arcadia, and Westside, Iowa prior to moving to Pierz, MN, where they farmed. Helen had been a Brainerd area resident since 1978.

Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd, Trinity Craft Group, Bethel Circle, Trinity Free Timers, and the Upper South Long Lake Association. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, and sewing.

Survivors include her son Richard (Karen) Fischer of Pierz; Daughter Jean (Marcel) Hayes of Pierz; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2007, her parents, and two sisters.

Funeral Services were at 11 AM Saturday, June 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor David Holte officiating. Burial was in Vaale Cemetery, rural Brainerd. Visitation was the hour before service Saturday at the church.
