Henrietta, daughter of Otto and Helena Stark Jentzen, was born January 31, 1907, in Carroll County, Iowa. She attended country school and afterward stayed home to help on the family farm.
On December 17, 1929, Henrietta was united in marriage with Edward J.H. Kruse in Arcadia. Two sons were born to this union. Henrietta and Edward farmed near Aspinwall for several years. Following Edward's death on January 22, 1972, Henrietta moved in with her son Charles' family and lived with them in Denison until December 23, 1994, when she became a resident of the Dunlap Care Center in Dunlap.
Henrietta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She enjoyed being outside, especially in the garden, quilting, and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On Friday, November 12, 1999, Henrietta died following a brief illness at the Dunlap Care Center in Dunlap, reaching the age of 92 years, 9 months and 12 days.
Besides her parents and husband, Henrietta is preceded in death by two brothers: Louie and Alvin Jentzen and a sister Emma Hansen.
She is survived by two sons: Charles Edward Kruse and his wife Lois of Denison, and Gene Kruse and his wife Beverly; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren & 3 step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters: Esther Hacker of Minnesota; Amanda Kruse of Manning; Ella Fuchs of Carroll; two brothers: Bill Jentzen and his wife Vera of Westside, and Henry Jentzen of California; a sister-in-law Norma Jentzen of Carroll; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
