FINAL RITES HELD AT MANNING CHURCH FOR H. AHRENDSEN
Manning (THNS) - Funeral services for Henry Ahrendsen, 78, were held Sunday afternoon at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with the Rev. Johann M. Ansorge in charge. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Music was furnished by Herman Pahde, who sang “Rock of Ages" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" with Mrs. Gertrude Ansorge playing the organ accompaniment. Mr. Ahrendsen passed away November 2, 1945, at the home of his son, Hugo Ahrendsen, with whom he resided. His death followed an illness of several months.

Mr. Ahrendsen was born May 13, 1867, at Husum, Germany, a son of Lorenz and Margaret Ahrendsen. In 1872 he came to the United States, settling first near Davenport. He came to Carroll County in 1892 and had lived in the Manning vicinity for 53 years, residing in the town of Manning for seven years. On March 3, 1893, he was married to Maggie Wunderlich in Lincoln Township. He had been a farmer the greater share of his life. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manning.

Survivors include one son, Hugo Ahrendsen, Manning, with whom he made his home; two daughters, Mrs. Ben Lampe (Ella), Burt, Iowa, and Mrs. Charles W. Willesen (Leona), Evanston, Illinois, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a brother, Julius Ahrendsen, Audubon. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herman Ahrendsen, one sister, Margaretha (Mrs. Fred) David, and his wife who passed away, June 16, 1910.


Henry Ahrendsen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
