Father Of Mrs. John Schrum
Dies At Pipestone

H. D. Heesch, a former resident of this community, father of Mrs. John Schrum of Manning, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. Schaap at Pipestone, Minn., last, Thursday morning. He had been in ill health for several years but had been able to be up and around as late as the Friday preceding his death. An attack of influenza hastened his death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Pipestone.

Henry D. Heesch was born in Weddlebrook, Hitzhusen, Schleswig Holstein, Germany. He died at the age of 81. When 21 years old the came to the United States. He was united in marriage with Christina Sievers in 1890 at Manning. They lived in this community until 1913 when they moved to Pipestone county, and engaged in farming for several years. Fourteen years ago they moved to Pipestone to make their home. Mrs. Heesch passed away in 1930 and since that time Mr. Heesch has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Schaap and family.

All of his children survive him, and all but two were at his bedside when he passed away. Emil of Charles City, Iowa and Mrs. John Schrum of Manning were unable to reach him because of the bad roads. The other children are: Mrs. C. H. Frerk, Slayton, Minn., Mrs. R. Schaap, Pipestone, John, Herman and William Heesch, all of Pipestone and vicinity; and Mrs. Kenneth Reese, Sioux Falls. There are 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
