HENRY GRUHN
Funeral services were held for Henry William Gruhn on Friday, July 24, 1981, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa with Pastor L.W. Sawhill officiating. Organist was Dorothy Kusel. Interment was in Manning Cemetery with Merrill Callender, Dean Stribe, Ernest Ehlers, Wesley Nulle, Merlyn Irlbeck and Harvey Freese as casketbearers.

Henry, son of Fred and Amanda Asmus Gruhn, was born July 11, 1900. in Carroll County, Iowa. He moved to Jefferson Town-ship, Shelby County, Iowa, as a child and attended rural schools near his home.

On September 8, 1943, he married Lorraine Rothfolk. Henry was a farmer all of his life. He retired and the couple moved to Manning in 1968.

Henry entered Manning General Hospital in April of 1981 and has been in failing health ever since. He passed away there on July 22, 1981 at the age of 81 years and 11 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters and one brother, Edward.

He is survived by: one son, Fred, and. his wife Mary of Manning, one daughter, Nancy and her husband Bob Evans of Manning; six grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Sue Ann, Mathew, John and Rebecca Gruhn; seven sisters, Lena, Mrs. Albert Jansen of Manning, Mrs. Ella Steen, Manning, Ann, Mrs. Albert Mahnke, Albert City, Mrs. Frieda Langbehn, Columbus, Georgia, Mrs. Alma Custer, Harlan, Ida, Mrs. Gilmer Anthony, Denison, Helen, Mrs. Lenus Andersen, Denison; as well as by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Henry Gruhn is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
