Henry Kusel

Henry Kusel, son of Christian and Wilhelmina (Wohlert) Kusel, passed away with a heart attack while driving to Plainview with his wife on June 15, 1939. He was at the age of 58 years, 6 months and 21 days.

Henry Kusel was born at Marshalltown, Iowa, on November 24, 1880. He came to Bloomfield with his parents in the spring of 1890, living one mile south of Bloomfield until 1905. On February 1, 1905, he was united in marriage to Pearl Stuart and they made their home four miles west of Crofton. In 1910 they took a claim in Newell, South Dakota, returning to Bloomfield in 1911. In 1925 they moved to the farm where they were living at the time of his death.

Five children were born to this union, the oldest boy dying in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Irene Brockman of Crofton, Nebraska, Mrs. Lola Florer of Chandler, Oklahoma, Louis Kusel of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Grace Wiseman of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Also surviving him are one brother, five sisters, nine grandchildren, and his father-in-law, Henry E. Stuart who had made his home with them for the past 18 years.

Mr. Kusel was a member of the Methodist Church at Bloomfield, an honored citizen of his community and his passing will be mourned by many friends who were recipients of his kindness.
