Herbert "Herb" L. Groteluschen was the son of Louis and Anna (Ahrens) Groteluschen, and died at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital at the age of 79 years, 10 months, and 15 days.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church west of Gray and attended the parochial school there, and graduated from Audubon High School with the Class of 1927. He attended Boyles College in Omaha and then was employed by Plond Clothing Store in Audubon for several years. He was then associated with Olsen Brothers Groceries located in Audubon, Atlantic, and Manning.

On April 7, 1935, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jensen in Wiota, Iowa. They lived in Atlantic, Iowa for a short time then moved to Manning where he worked at the Olsen Brothers Grocery which he subsequently purchased and renamed the Manning Food Market. He operated that store for many years until he sold it and purchased a food store in Fonda, Iowa, where they lived until he retired in 1973. They then moved to Audubon where they have since resided. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Ted and Carl Groteluschen, and one sister, Claudia Groteluschen.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Audubon, IA; his children and their spouses: Janis and Jim Buckles of Arvada, CO; Jon and Marelle Groteluschen of Alma, MI; and Pam and Dutch Bansbach of Englewood, CO; his grandchildren: Gil Buckles of Oakland, CA; Rhea and Meghan Buckles of Arvada, CO; Andrea and Inga Groteluschen of Alma, MI; and Brooke and Bart Bansbach of Englewood, CO; one brother, Walter Groteluschen of Columbus, NE; three sisters: Elna Joens and Rosa Keat, both of Manning, IA; and Ruth Groteluschen of Batavia, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
