Herbert M. Ewoldt, better known as "Herb," "Dad," "Grandpa," was born July 16, 1909, at Manning, Iowa, to Julius and Anna Ewoldt.

He had two brothers, Elmer and Erlin, and one sister Hilda. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Harry.

On October 16, 1929, Herbert married Lorraine S. Martens at Arcadia, Iowa. To this union was born three daughters, Virginia, Shirley, Janice, and one son, David. There are nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Herb and Lorraine lived in Lytton for many years. Herb worked at Hy-Grade Food Products at Storm Lake until his retirement.

Herb was an avid visitor, a wonderful dancer, a good husband and a loving Dad. He was a Good Samaritan and a caring person.

He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran Church and confirmed at the age of 16. He had a deep faith which carried him through many trials.

Herb passed away May 27th, 1988, at the Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City, Iowa. He will be sorely missed.
