HERMAN EHLERS
Services for Herman "Shorty" Ehlers, 75, of Manning were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ohde Funeral Home here.

The Rev. Joel Wright, minister of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. Pallbearers were David Grundmeier, William Puck, William Dillingham, Louis P.H. Jahn, Carl P. Brus, and Hugo P.H. Jahn. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Ehlers died in his sleep early Friday morning, March 21, 1975.

He was born in Crawford County September 6, 1899, a son of Fritz and Anna (Wegner) Ehlers. He attended rural school and then farmed. He married Alta Kuhl on January 27, 1926, and after farming north of Manning, worked for Hass Construction Company. Mr. Ehlers was town marshal in Manning for 13 years, retiring in 1962.

Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Norman of Belle Plaine; a granddaughter, Joyce; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Hagedorn of Manning, Mrs. Florence Witt and Mrs. Rose Stuhr of Carroll, and Mrs. Selma Kuebler of St. Petersburg, Florida; and two brothers, Freddie Ehlers of Manning, and Ernest Ehlers of Botna. Another brother, George Ehlers, preceded him in death.
