Herman Frahm, 84, a former Manning city councilman and automobile dealer, died Monday, October 26, in the Manning General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, at Zion Lutheran Church here with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning, will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Frahm is survived by his wife, a daughter Mrs. Neill (Ardella) Mullen, Bellingham, Washington; two sons, Stanley and his wife Jan, San Marcos, California; and Lyle and his wife Darlene, Beaverton, Oregon; eight grandchildren; a brother Harry Frahm, Imperial Beach, California; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, George, Henry, and John; a sister Emma Hagge; a half-sister Katie Ohrt and a half-brother Detlef Frahm.

Mr. Frahm was born June 30, 1897, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, a son of Detlef and Margaretha (Rowedder) Frahm. He attended rural school through eighth grade. Later he attended Sweeney Automotive School, Kansas City, and then went into partnership with his brother John Frahm in 1922, in the operation of the Studebaker automobile agency in Manning.

On August 10, 1930, he was married to Elsie Miller. He continued the Studebaker partnership until 1945. From that year until 1961 he operated the business alone. In 1961 he began working for Struve Motor Company in Manning and continued in that job until 1978.

He had been in failing health for several years and entered the Manning Plaza Infirmary in May of 1980. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.


Herman Frahm is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
