Kicked By Horse, Dies In Hospital

Funeral services for Herman Frank of Irwin were held from the M. E. Church at Irwin this afternoon, with the Rev. George E. Steele, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Manning officiating.

Mr. Frank sustained abdominal injuries when he was kicked by a horse on his farm northeast of Irwin last Tuesday noon. On Thursday afternoon he was removed to St. Anthony's Hospital at Carroll, where he was operated on to relieve the injury. He passed away at 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, September 14, 1936.

Herman Christopher Frank, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Frank, was born March 11, 1900 in Jefferson Township, Shelby County, Iowa. He was baptized in the Lutheran church. After having received his education in the public schools of Irwin, he started farming with his brother Otto on a farm northeast of Irwin. After five years of farming with his brother, he farmed the land himself until he was united in marriage with Miss Marjorie Moore of Botna on August 13, 1934.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his infant son, Russell Lee Frank of Irwin, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ernst & Elizabeth (Meyer) Frank of Irwin; two brothers, Otto of Manilla and Carl of Manning; three sisters, Mamie (Mrs. Louie) Plagmann of Irwin, Emma (Mrs. Henry) Plagman of Harlan, and Miss Fern Frank at home; three nephews, two nieces, and a host of friends and associates who bear testimony to his sterling character and trust worthiness.

Following the services in the Irwin Methodist Church, interment was made in the Irwin Cemetery.
