HERMANN JAHN BURIED SATURDAY

HIGHLY RESPECTED FARMER DIES AT HAYES TOWNSHIP HOME WEDNESDAY.
Suffered Fourth Stroke in Four Years on Tuesday. Aged Sixty-One Years.
West Side, Iowa, March 19.

One of Hayes Township's most highly respected farmers and pioneers, Mr. Hermann Jahn answered the call of the death angel last week Wednesday, March 14, 1923, at about 3 a.m. Some four years ago Mr. Jahn suffered a paralytic stroke and although somewhat improved from time to time, the ailment would repeat and after suffering the fourth stroke Tuesday he passed away quietly on Wednesday. His sudden death has caused profound sorrow, not only among his relatives, but to all who knew him. He was one of the leading citizens of the township, known for his honesty and integrity, and he will be sadly missed in his family and large circle of friends.

The deceased was born at Ostrohe near Weddingstedt, Holstein, Germany, February 27, 1862, and came with his parents to America in 1872. The family settled on the farm, where now death has occurred and Mr. Jahn has spent a little over fifty years there. In the year 1892 Mr. Jahn was united in marriage to Miss Laura Sievers, and it is her sad lot to mourn the death of a beloved husband and the two daughters to mourn the departure of a good and loving father. Besides the widow and the two daughters Mrs. Diedrich Gehlsen of Hayes township, and Mrs. J. Moeller of Carroll County, he leaves one brother, Paul William Jahn of Manilla; two sisters, Mrs. Claus Anthony and Mrs. George Buck of West Side. He reached the age of 61 years and 15 days.

The funeral services were held at the late home in Hayes Township, Rev. Theodore Thomas of West Side officiating, on Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m. and interment followed at the Hayes Township Cemetery. The Bulletin wishes to express its sympathy to the bereaved ones.
