HILDA AMANDA CHRISTINA BEHREND

Funeral services for Hilda Amanda Christina Behrend will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 1989, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla.

Mrs. Behrend, 74, died Sunday, June 25, 1989, at the Manning Plaza nursing home.

Burial will be at Nishnabotna Cemetery in Manilla.

Pastor Glenn Wiechmann will officiate at the services.

Casket bearers will be Delbert Ewoldt, Howard Ewoldt, Richard Meisel, Joe Ewoldt, Earl Ewoldt, and Ronald Meisel.

Born June 8, 1915, in Washington Township in Carroll County, Mrs. Behrend was a daughter of Julius and Anna (Schrum) Ewoldt. She attended school near her home. She was baptized on July 2, 1916, by Pastor Wendt and was confirmed in March 1926 by Pastor John Ansorge.

On February 17, 1935, she was married to Harry Behrend. They farmed in the Manila area, moving to their current farm home in 1948.

Mrs. Behrend was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla and the Ladies Guild. She was a volunteer at the Manilla Manor nursing home.

She had been in failing health since November and had resided at the Manning Plaza for a week.

Mrs. Behrend is survived by her husband, Harry, of the Manilla Manor nursing home in Manila; a son, Wayne, and his wife, Carolyn, of Manila; two granddaughters, Debra Behrend of Council Bluffs, and Wendy and her husband, Scott Kalbaugh, of Ashgrove, Missouri; two brothers, Either Ewoldt and his wife, Mary, of Rapid City, South Dakota; and Erlin Ewoldt and his wife, Caroline, of Denison; and three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Ewoldt of Lake City, Hertha Behrend of Manilla and Viola Andrews of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Herbert Ewoldt.
