Hilda A. Dalgety

Funeral services for Hilda A. Dalgety were held Friday, April 30, 1993, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon with Bruce Laabs officiating. Interment was held in the Manning Cemetery with Allen Ehlers, Charles Ehlers, Robert Ehlers, Roger Joens, Paul Madsen, Francis Madsen, Jon Lauridsen and Michael McCollach as casketbearers.

Hilda A. Dalgety, the daughter of Fred and Minna Hagemann Jansen, was born October 2, 1901, in Manning, Iowa and died April 26, 1993, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 24 days.

She was baptized July 17, 1902, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She reaffirmed her faith November of 1982 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. She attended school in Manning and South Dakota. After her formative years in South Dakota, she returned to Manning.

On March 25, 1920 she was united in marriage to David R. Dalgety and four daughters were born to this union. In 1944 Hilda moved to Denver, Colorado where she was employed as a cashier for several retail stores. She returned to Audubon to live in 1982 and maintained her own home until entering the Friendship Home January 1993.

Preceding her in death was her daughter, Lila Johnson, great-granddaughter Cheryl Ehlers, sister Amanda McElroy, brother Afred Jansen and son-in-law, Robert Savage.

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses: Phylis and Ray Ehlers of Manning, Alice Savage of Tigard, Oregon, and Donavee and Edward Madsen of Audubon; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Dora Beeman of Pierre, South Dakota; Agnes Wendell of Twin Falls, Idaho; Margaret Henrichs of Albion, Nebraska; Helen McIntyre of Portland, Oregon; Alice Wendell of Gregory, South Dakota; Caroline and Jim McGill of Spokane, Washington; Charles and Margaret Jansen of Greeley, Colorado; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Hilda Dalgety is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
