Howard Alfred Ewoldt was born January 8, 1954, the son of Erlin and Caroline (Schwartz) Ewoldt. He died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of forty-seven.

Howard was born in Denison, Iowa, and received his education in various schools in southwest Iowa, graduating from the Harlan High School in 1973. He worked for Midwest Steel in Atlantic, Iowa, later for IBP in Sioux City and subsequently at IBP in Denison. Howard also worked for Dubuque Pack for several years and Launderville Construction.

He was united in marriage to Laura Barrett of California, in Denison, Iowa. This union was blessed with the birth of one daughter, Janae. Later Howard was married to Carol Hines Spahn.

Howard enjoyed helping his family put in farm fences.

At the time of his death he was supervisor of shipping and receiving at Custom Ribs in Denison.

Preceding him in death was his father, Erlin in 1996.

Survivors include one daughter, Janae Mallory and her husband, Robert of Council Bluffs and a grandchild to arrive in September; his mother, Caroline Ewoldt of Denison; one sister, Irene Ewoldt of Harlan; three brothers, Delbert Ewoldt of Council Bluffs; Joe Ewoldt and his wife, Penny of Vail; Earl Ewoldt and his fiancee, Michelle Hahn of Breda; one step-sister, Adella Farley and her husband, Larry of Manilla; two aunts, Mary Ewoldt of Rapid City, South Dakota; Margaret Holmes of Denison; also three nieces, four nephews, numerous cousins and other relatives.
