Obituary
September 7, 1904 Manning Monitor

The Angel of Death visited our community last Monday afternoon and took from our midst Mrs. Peter Hansen (died September 4, 1904).

Mrs. Hansen has been an invalid the past four years and during the past four weeks has been very low, but she has borne her suffering with never a murmur and was always thinking of others instead of self.

Miss Ida Suhr was born in Holstein, Germany in 1835. She was married to Peter F. Hansen June 14, 1860 and they came to America in 1881. First they settled on a farm near Arcadia and resided there until twelve years ago when they moved to Manning and have lived here ever since. Mrs. Hansen was the mother of eight children all of whom survive to mourn the loss of a mother's love and care. All the children, with the exception of the eldest daughter who lives in Germany, reside in and around Manning and have been constantly at their mother's bedside through all her sickness. Mrs. Hansen was a woman that one counts it a pleasure to meet and be her friend. She was a true friend to all and was always ready to help one in an hour of need. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the house conducted by Rev. Martens. The remains were laid to rest in the Manning cemetery where a large concourse of sorrowing friends had gathered to witness the last ceremonies, We join with the host of others in extending our sympathy to the bereaved husband and children in their sorrow.

Card of Thanks:
We desire through these columns to extend our sincere thanks to the kind friends and neighbors who so willingly gave us their services during the long illness of our beloved wife and mother.
